Hands show in the outlines of shadows.
Between breaths that hold crooked laughs, forces smiles.
Knees buckle under tension, from picking through burdens in the soul.
We fret, we run to signs of
Greatness despite flaws.
Some shadows are still beautiful
They are unaware of the battles I’ve had to fight
Hoping, praying we don’t spend all the ambition, passion, and drive we saved up on 40 hour work weeks and job applications. Have we been living like we should?
Turning slowly in time
burning bridges through memories.
They fell in love with silhouettes from the sun.
Summers evaporated, winters froze, fall came
and they threw off patience
finding it again in the future winds.
They can peak through the blinds to reminisce
over and over, stargazing over those nights
unaware of their passing.
